Jonathan Hiles joined the firm in 2019. Previously, he was an associate at Sanford Heisler Sharp, LLP, where he represented plaintiffs in employment discrimination cases and represented an exoneree in a federal wrongful conviction lawsuit based on misconduct by Queens police and prosecutors. Jonathan’s areas of interest include criminal appeals of wrongful convictions and civil actions for police and prosecutorial misconduct. From 2016 to 2017, he clerked for a federal judge in the United States District Court in the Southern District of New York.

Jonathan graduated from Harvard Law School in 2016. During law school, he helped a client obtain a multimillion-dollar settlement under the New York State Unjust Conviction and Imprisonment Act. He also served as a student attorney in the Harvard Law School Predatory Lending Clinic and was a leader of Divest Harvard, which advocates divestment from fossil fuel companies.

Before law school, Jonathan taught Language Arts at a middle school in Jackson, Mississippi through Teach for America. He received his bachelor’s degree magna cum laude from Brown University in 2010.
